The networking events are intended to provide a place for L and D professionals in our area to come together and connect. Although they are intended to be casual and social only, at recent events we have included some structured activities to facilitate meeting and discussion. These have proven to be a big success. Networking events are held at a restaurant/pub in downtown Vancouver.
The professional development events seek to educate attendees on relevant topics for the L and D profession. They cover topics of interest to our members (and non-members) who we have surveyed. Past topics include: Storytelling, AR/VR, a world-café style event highlighting topic from the National Conference, and Scenes from L and D. Future planned topic: L and D “Career” night – where we’ll look at different facets and levels of the L and D world, and how people can get themselves to the next level.
THE CHAPTER’S GOALS
Each and every member of the IPL has to pay a fee just to belong. We feel it’s important to give our members a sense of getting good value for the money they paid.
To provide professional development and networking opportunities for our members, and non-members in the learning community.
To provide a sense of community and promote a collegial atmosphere. There are not many places where L and D professionals can come together to share ideas. We hope to foster such a feeling of inclusion.
