As a stand-alone, the story of self-assessment (SA) sounds more like a crisis: it's the most biased form of assessment, most aren't equipped to do it well, and we are predisposed to biases that undermine its validity. 

And yet, it's gaining in popularity!

Unfortunately, this means many of us are making big decisions using faulty data. but there's good news! Self-assessment is learned skill, and we can take steps to improve when, why, and how we use it. Moreover, building self-assessment skills comes with a host of other benefits that support the future of work. For example, SA strengthens self-monitoring and metacognition, giving us more reliable autonomy to self-direct our learning and development. Better self-assessment also strengthens the coaching relationships that are fundamental to learning culture. 

This session will equip you with 7 strategies to improve SA that you can use now to get better data. 


Lindsay Valve 
is a passionate impact-specialist living at the intersection of data, design and human insights. She has spent the last decade helping organizations understand the ways our bias towards the quantifiable comes at the expense of profits and people, and how to fix it. When she is not working with organizations, Lindsay is researching bias-reduction and optimal uses of self-assessment - the most common (and vulnerable) assessment methodology used by her clients. Lindsay holds an MA in Curriculum & Assessment from the University of Toronto and is currently completing her PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

Please note that there are two steps in the registration process. First, you are required to register on YourMembership (The I4PL website) and then the second step is to register on the ZOOM platform. The second step will be sent to you 48 hours before the webinar that will then send a confirmation email with the dial-in instructions. Also, please check your junk/spam inbox if you have not received the second step 48 hours before the webinar. 

If you are unable to attend the live webinar, the webinar will be recorded. Each registrant will receive the recording whether they attended the live session or not.

CANCELLATIONS: The Institute for Performance and Learning does not issue refunds for cancelled event registrations. Cancellations received in writing up to seven days prior to the event date will be issued a full credit voucher to be applied to another event within the respective calendar year. If it is a free member event ticket, it is not permitted to transfer one I4PL member's spot to a non-member. If it is a paid member event ticket and the cancellation is received less than seven days before the event, no credit voucher will be issued but the member may transfer the ticket to another I4PL member. If it is a paid non-member event ticket and the cancellation is received less than seven days before the event, no credit voucher will be issued but the non-member may transfer the ticket to a I4PL member or non-member to use. Please read the cancellation policy at: https://performanceandlearning.site-ym.com/page/I4PLCancellationPolicy
