More than Micro – Designing Learning That Fits

JD Dillon, Axonify

This session will demystify the microlearning trend by clearly defining it in 3 words: learning that fits. We’ll explain why microlearning is actually an “informed reimagination” of familiar L&D tactics. We’ll show you how to design learning solutions that “fit” within the modern workplace. We’ll discuss the importance of technology in a microlearning strategy, especially for large and distributed organizations. We’ll share examples of how microlearning is driving bottom-line results within a variety of global companies. Finally, we’ll work together to apply microlearning tactics to solve a few familiar learning and performance challenges. Participants will leave armed with the principles necessary to start applying microlearning in their everyday work.

Virtual Reality: The Future is Now

Kurt Tiltack, Pathways Training and eLearning Inc.

The “learner experience” has never been more relevant than it is today – yet over and over, training and development professionals either opt for, or are encouraged to invest in safe, easily quantifiable modalities that tell the participant what their ‘takeaways’ will be, rather than letting the messages unravel through the experience itself.

Participants will enjoy a thought-provoking journey that will question some traditional perspectives of corporate training, culminating in the use of virtual reality – a medium historically deemed too expensive and impractical for wide-spread organizational use; and one whose application requires the reinvention of conventional design.
