Sign up for the First National Mentorship Program

The Institute for Performance and Learning is pleased to launch their first ever nation-wide Mentorship Program! After a successful pilot program in 2015, we are excited to open participation up to all members.

The Institute’s Mentorship program is a unique opportunity to build a supportive and mutually beneficial relationship with someone in the field of Performance & Learning. Through the MentorCity software, participants are able to create a profile, find Mentor & Mentee matches, and build meaningful mentoring relationships.

Here is some feedback from participants of the 2015 pilot program:

“My mentor had great advice and feedback and I got way more out of the mentoring relationship than I ever thought I would,” said Betty Jo McCabe. 

“I expected mentoring would be about being matched with someone more junior; someone who was looking for learning opportunities but what I got was a seasoned professional looking for expertise based on my experience,” said Julie Sullivan, who took on the role of the mentor. “It was a great learning experience. The relationship turned out to be more of a partnership than a mentorship.”

Our 2016 Mentorship program will run from March to June 2016. Please review the below details to better determine if this member benefit is right for you:

  • You are a current member of The Institute for Performance and Learning
  • You are able to dedicate 2 – 4 hours per month towards your Mentoring partnership
  • You are passionate about the field of Performance & Learning!

If you’d like to participate, we invite you to complete the Participant Registration Application. Space is limited, so we will be considering registrations on a first come, first served basis.  The application should not take more than 15 minutes of your time and closes on Friday, February 19. Applicants can expect to hear more information shortly thereafter.

    I have recently shifted my focus from classroom delivery and design to helping my organization shift to one with a focus on learning and growing our staff. I’m very excited about moving from a compliance approach to an engaging and collaborative learning centered focus within the company, however this is a fairly new area for myself. At the same time I have ten plus years of developing and delivering training from technical to soft skills…from front line all the way up to senior levels.

    Mentoring would not only allow me to grow, but to tap into another part of the learning community. I would hope, if chosen for this opportunity, I could take the learning and share it forward with others to help grow our community of Canadian Learning professionals even further.

    While I have always wanted to get my designations, work has been so hectic ve never had the time. I see this as an opportunity to grow and develop myself so that I too may help other grow and develop.

    Wondering if there is a 2017 version of this program? Attempted to email Melissa, however the email bounced back. Any insight would be great.
